Internal – Managing Director, Artistic Director, Marketing, Business Systems, Box Office, Artistic and Finance staff.
External – donors, trusts and foundations, industry contacts and audiences.
The Philanthropy Manager - Victoria is a permanent, three-day per week position that reports to the Head of Development on a day-to-day basis, and to the Managing Director as required.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Philanthropy Manager oversees all activities in relation to philanthropy and fundraising in Melbourne and Victoria in order to achieve financial targets. This role is responsible for the administration, management and stewardship of Victoria-based donors for annual giving, major gifts, philanthropic programs and the Brandenburg Foundation, as well as bequests. It is also responsible for the management of fundraising and cultivation events in Victoria. There is an emphasis on developing and maintaining relationships with key donors (including trusts and foundations), as well as working with Melbourne-based board members to secure prospective donors, trusts and foundations for their eventual support of the Brandenburg.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Annual Giving
- Identify and meet donor needs by building effective relationships and timely communications.
- Manage relationships with donors to ensure the retention and development of their current level of support for Annual Giving and/or the Brandenburg Foundation.
- Major Gifts and Philanthropic Programs
- Management of philanthropic programs including Victoria-based Chairman’s 11, Orchestral Chairs and other key programs. This includes securing new program donors and managing renewals.
- Management of events related to philanthropic programs.
- Cultivation and stewardship of donors for major gifts.
- Increase awareness of bequest program with existing donors.
- Fundraising and Development events
- Work with the Head of Development and other Development department team members to plan annual development event schedule.
- Work with Head of Development to develop fundraising strategies to align with the organisation’s needs.
- Worth with the Development team in event management, administration and co-ordination, including invitations and ticketing.
- Work with Artistic team to arrange required orchestra performances at events.
- Trusts and Foundations in Victoria
- Identify and seek support from philanthropic Trusts and Foundations.
- Nurture existing relationships with Trusts and Foundations.
- Drafting of grant applications and acquittals in collaboration with the Head of Development.
- General
- Provide support to the Head of Development and Melbourne-based Board members as required.
- Support on other company projects or initiatives as required by the Head of Development or Managing Director.
- Contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of philanthropic and fundraising strategies.
- Work closely with other development department team members including the Philanthropy Coordinator to ensure strategies are aligned and development activities and events are co-ordinated.
- As needed, you will be required to attend concerts and events outside of office hours.
- Maintain the CRM (Tessitura) with up-to-date and accurate records.
- Provide analysis and reporting on donors as required including for use in strategy development, marketing, printed acknowledgements, Board and government reports, internal use and other formats as required.
- Manage administration tasks and processes in the area of philanthropy and fundraising.
